Synopsis of Module
The Stock Exchange plays a major role in the provision of finance to companies. The module examines this role in relation to the financing of listed football clubs, a recent phenomenon in terms of developing organisations and one which is of personal interest to many students. The performance of football clubs and the effect this has on share prices, both at flotation and currently, are the main focus on this module.
The module will be delivered by a combination of lectures and seminars and will be assessed by assignment.
Aims of Module
The module aims to:
| 1. | To introduce and analyse the role of the UK Stock Exchange as a source of finance for football clubs. |
| 2. | To explore the factors which influence share prices and, in particular, the performance of football clubs both from sporting and commercial view points. |
| 3. | To explore the reasons underlying the flotation of football clubs. |
